Connect Google Workspace
Give Lobby read-only access to your Google room calendars so your screens can show bookings.
Before you start
- You're a Lobby Admin signed in with your Google Workspace account.
- Your organisation hasn't connected Microsoft 365. Each organisation uses one calendar provider.
- 1
Start the connection
On your first visit, Lobby shows Connect your Google Calendar. Click Connect Google Calendar. You can also go to Settings, find the Google Calendar card and click Connect Google.
- 2
Tick every checkbox on Google's screen
Google lets you untick individual permissions. Make sure every box is ticked, especially 'See events on your Google Calendar'. Without it, Lobby gets a connection it can't use.
- 3
Click Continue
Lobby only asks for read-only calendar access plus your email address and basic profile. It can never create, edit or delete events, and it doesn't ask for Gmail or Drive.
- 4
Check that you're connected
Back in Lobby, the Google Calendar card in Settings shows 'Connected to Google Workspace' with your domain.
What happens next
You can now add rooms. Lobby lists the room calendars that you, the person who connected, are subscribed to in Google Calendar. Any other room can be added by its calendar address.
Tips
- To have more rooms appear automatically, subscribe to them in Google Calendar first, then open Add a room again.
- If a room's calendar isn't shared with your account, share it with 'See all event details' so Lobby can read the meetings.
If something goes wrong
Lobby shows Reconnect Google Calendar and rooms have stopped syncing.
A permission box was probably left unticked. Click the reconnect button and tick every box this time.
I'm not an admin and Lobby says 'Calendar connection required'.
Click Email admin to open a pre-written email, with a sign-in link, to send to an admin, who can connect the calendar for everyone.
