Setup Guide: Step 2

Pick your mounting solution.

Using a virtual display? You can skip this page — virtual displays don’t need mounting. This page covers physical e-ink hardware.

No drilling required for most options. There’s a solution for every office and every wall: a permanent install, a no-fuss magnetic fix, or a custom 3D-printed bracket.

🔩

One screw, through the keyhole slot

Recommended

Our recommended display, the Seeed reTerminal E1001, has a keyhole hanging slot moulded into the back — a 10 mm opening narrowing to a 4.4 mm slot, 23 mm below the top edge. Drive one screw into the wall, leave the head standing 3–4 mm proud, and hang the display on it. Nothing to buy, nothing to print.

Best for: Almost everyone. Permanent installs on drywall, plaster or wood

🧲

No drilling at all

No tools needed

Stick a metal plate or magnetic strip to the wall with adhesive backing, or use adhesive strips directly. At 218 g the E1001 sits well inside the rating of small 3M Command strips (around 450 g), and TRMNL devices are lighter still. Takes two minutes, leaves no marks, and repositions freely — the right answer for offices that can’t drill.

Best for: Rented offices, glass partitions, quick pilots, temporary setups

Printed frames for the E1001

DIYFree designs

For a flush, finished look, the community has already published frames for the E1001. The hook design needs no device screws at all. The two frames bolt to the four M3 points on the back — note that those same screws clamp the rear cover, and the antenna cable connects to it, so a frame must re-clamp the cover rather than leave it loose.

Best for: Teams with a 3D printer who want a flush, professional finish

Mounting a TRMNL device

Community

TRMNL devices are fully supported and mount just as easily: they ship with a desk stand, have a hook recess on the back, and TRMNL sells a U-Mount separately. The community has published dozens of free printable designs for them too.

Best for: Anyone already running a TRMNL device
